Rockies Venture Club (RVC)

About RVC

For over 28 years, Colorado has looked to the Rockies Venture Club to connect investors, service providers, and entrepreneurs. Rockies Venture Club is a non-profit organization.

RVC 2.0 envisioned in 2012 builds on RVC’s tradition of connecting investors and entrepreneurs and adds active angel groups, more sophisticated training and education, more events, a more diverse community and metric-driven action oriented approach to funding early stage companies.

Demographics are important to us.  We have shifted the demographics of the organization to make RVC “investor friendly.”  Angels and VCs gain access to hard-to-find a deal flow qualified by a strict vetting system and entrepreneur coaching – resulting in high quality pitches from high quality companies.   In 2012 the typical RVC event demographics included 25% investors, 50% entrepreneurs and 25% service providers and students.  We feel this is the best balance of our community to meet everyone’s needs.

In 2012 RVC Pitched 100 companies.   Of those 24 received funding totaling over $15 million.  These investments resulted in the creation of over 200 jobs in our state.  In 2013 RVC held over 100 events, educational workshops, mastermind groups, angel forums and conferences and RVC pitch companies received over $10 million in funding.

Our mission is to advance Economic Development in the Rocky Mountain Region by actively connecting investors with the most promising entrepreneurial companies, by offering education for both angel investors and entrepreneurs, by hosting angel groups throughout the region and hosting major conferences such as the Angel Capital Summit and Colorado Capital Conference.

He has been an entrepreneur five times over, and has spend over a decade in Corporate America as a Director of Economics and CIO for Design Workshop, a national architecture firm. The company quickly realized that no matter how experienced you are in sales and marketing, everyone needs a mentor:

Managerial productivity increased by 88% when mentoring was involved, versus only a 24% increase with training alone.

71% of Fortune 500 companies use mentoring to ensure learning occurs in their organizations.

Pragmatic Marketing

Pragmatic Marketing
The industry standard for technology product management and marketing

Is your company getting the most from its investment in product management and marketing?
Does your product management and marketing function need more structure or a repeatable process?
Are product managers and marketers overloaded with tactical activities, spending too much time supporting development and sales rather than focusing on the strategic issues of the organization?

Founded in 1993, Pragmatic Marketing addresses these issues by providing training, consulting services and an online community for product managers, marketers and business leaders at thousands of today’s technology companies.

Market-driven training
We have trained more than 45,000 product management and marketing professionals using the Pragmatic Marketing Framework, a common sense approach to identifying market problems, building the right solution and creating effective go-to-market strategies. This framework has been implemented, tested, and proven in thousands of technology companies.

Our seminars include Practical Product Management, Requirements that Work and Pragmatic Roadmapping for those responsible for defining products (most often product managers and members of the development team). For those tasked with launching effective go-to-market strategies (typically product marketing managers and members of the marketing communications team) we have Effective Product Marketing and New Rules of Marketing. And, for business leaders in the organization (most often vice presidents or other department heads, CEOs and COOs), we offer an Executive Briefing and a Market-Driven Leaders workshop.

In addition to the extensive public schedule, training can be conducted on-site at a company’s office, saving travel time and costs for attendees and allowing a much more focused discussion on internal, critical issues that may not be appropriate in a public setting.

High-impact consulting services

Pragmatic Marketing’s Consulting Services team can accelerate your implementation of a market-driven framework and help you change the organization rapidly and effectively with the minimum of disruption.

Services for all aspects of the Pragmatic Marketing Framework are available including assessment of the current environment, support for tactical or strategic initiatives, and on-going reinforcement of the fundamental principles of being market-driven.

Thought-leading online community is the first-choice, online destination for technology product management and marketing professionals. With more than 30,000 visitors per month, this dynamic resource center contains hundreds of articles, a job board, book reviews, instructional webinars, links to peer networking groups and much more.

It is also the online home for the Pragmatic Marketing Update newsletter and The Pragmatic Marketer magazine. With articles written by many of today’s experts and thought-leaders, each issue of The Pragmatic Marketer is read by more than 70,000 subscribers. All issues are also available in electronic format (.pdf) and are downloaded thousands of times every month.

About the company
Best practices. Proven process. And more. Here are five reasons why Pragmatic Marketing is the only choice for technology product management and marketing success.

Technology focus
We understand that marketing a technology product is substantially different from the “consumer-based theory” you learned in college. Our specific focus is product marketing and management for technology companies. Period. So we won’t waste your time teaching techniques that aren’t applicable to your industry.

Pragmatic process
Our name says it all. The Pragmatic Marketing Framework has been developed and refined for nearly 20 years. Our market-driven, practical approach can be immediately put to use. That’s why this common sense framework has been implemented, tested, and proven in thousands of technology companies.

Professional expertise
All of our instructors and services team members have extensive product marketing experience and actually implemented the Pragmatic Framework for the companies where they worked, prior to joining Pragmatic Marketing. They can provide first-hand advice about how to deal with a broad range of problems.

Since 1993, we’ve trained over 45,000 technology product management and marketing professionals. Over the years, we’ve learned what it takes to produce a high-quality seminar and services offering, reviewing and revising material until we can provide the greatest impact in the shortest possible time. What’s more, we learn from our customers, integrating their experiences into our future products and services.

Customer satisfaction
Our greatest promotional vehicle is our alumni. Attendees tell us our seminars are the best training they’ve ever received from the best instructors. That’s why over 80% of our new business comes via word-of-mouth. And over 90% of our attendees rate the seminars as essential or very useful to their careers, leaving the training with unbridled enthusiasm about their jobs and the impact they can have on their companies.
